DAVID R. MARTINEZ, 67, a lifelong resident of Lordsburg passed away Sunday June 16, 2013 in Lordsburg.
David was born January 24, 1946 in Lordsburg to Andres and Rosa (Romero) Martinez. He graduated from Lordsburg High School and afterward entered the United States Army. Upon his return home David held several jobs throughout the years. He worked at area mines, the New Mexico State Highway Department, and at the Department of Transportation. His love of music and his talent playing the guitar were recognized as he was one of the original members of the Galaxies and also the Lordsburg Indios.
He is survived by his children, Richard L. Martinez of Tucson, Mary Jane Ramirez of Peoria, AZ, Danette Venegas of Frederick, Maryland; sisters, Paula Martinez of California, Mollie Ortega of Superior, AZ, Barbara Sanchez of Las Vegas, NV, Judy Martinez of Lordsburg; 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and by 1 son, David A. Martinez.
