David Lincoln Hood departed this life Monday, January 17th at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in New York City, June 7, 1927, the son of the late Dr. Robert Carhart Hood and Virginia Davis Hood. David served his country in WWII as a member of the U.S. Navy in 1945 on the U.S.S. Ozark LSV-2. He graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1946 and attended Salem College. David was married to Patricia (Phillips) Floyd on August 17, 1968, who survives in Clarksburg. He is also survived by three children, David L. Hood II of Cross Lanes, WV; Elizabeth Davis Blount (Mario), Bridgeport, WV; Amy Virginia McCracken (James), Clarksburg, WV. Three step-children, Robin Lynn Jenkins (Stephen), Woodstock, GA; Brian Lee Floyd (Kim), Clarksburg, WV; and Jana Palumbo (Joe) Marietta, GA. Grandchildren Travis Hood, Tanya (Hood) Patterson, Megan Blount, Allison and Lilly McCracken, Hannah Jenkins, Brett and Tanner Floyd. Great-grandchildren Kyleigh and Cadee Patterson and Travis Andrew Hood. A sister, Virginia Rogers (Charles), Vernon, Al and first cousin Elizabeth Guiher (James) NY, NY with whom he was raised along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by first cousins John Hart, Isabelle Hart Wilson, and Catherine Hart Brown, his grandson David Andrew Hood and daughter-in-law Deborah Lynn Hood. David was a one time state champion of the WV Archery Association. He was employed by Consolidated Natural Gas and medically retired in 1976 after contracting Guillan Barre. He was a founding member of the Stealey Recreation Center where he served as president. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarksburg. Dave had a wonderful sense of humor and was a good husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to camp with the Tusings in Hardy County (Moorefield) and Burnsville Lake. He especially loved his daily visits with friends at Rokisky’s Exxon. He enjoyed working on projects, helping others, and was proud of his garden. He will be deeply missed.
