David Libby was born November 13, 1955 to the late Ralph Milton Libby and Shirley Rodgers Combs in Westbrook, Maine. His parents separated at an early age. He first stayed with his father and stepmother, then at the age of 6 moved to Maryland to live with his mother and stepfather. David was educated in the Prince George’s County public school system graduating from Laurel High School. After completing high school, he joined the Army in August 1974 as a Calvary Scout for six years. At the end of his military career he was as Heavy Equipment Mechanic retiring as a Sergeant.

David met his wife, Dorothea Libby on a blind date to see Cinderella at the movies with his cousin Kelly and little sister Kathy. They were married in Colorado Springs at Fort Carson Chapel on August 5, 1983. They had a family wedding October 27, 1984 in Lanham, Maryland at the Dorothea’s family church, St. Paul United Church of Christ, with Rev.

David worked various jobs: manager at Track Auto; small tool repairs for Grabber; Clerk for Air Force One and Malcom Grove Hospital; then he went to Lincoln Tech and Graduated as a Mechanic working for McClughan Oldsmobile, HSI, and Colonial Moving and Storage. He was a school bus driver for Prince George’s County Public schools when the kids were younger, this allowed him to pop into the school between morning and afternoon runs to check on them! His final job was a car sales man for Tate Dodge and Chrysler in Annapolis. David loved bowling, cars, going to the casino and wood working. He was great at giving advice to his children, many relatives and friends. You could always find David zipping around on his scooter racing the kids and going getting the mail.

David leaves to cherish his memory: his three children, Michael (Amber), Rebecca, and Julia; brothers and sisters, Ralph, Leslie, Kathy, Sharon, and Tonya; grandkids, Alana, Mia, Tyler and Nicholas. A host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Dorothea; brothers and sisters, Donald, Sonny, Bernita, Lorelei and June.
