David Lee Sandy, 65, of Carolina, WV passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born in Fairmont, July 21, 1945 the son of the late Denver Allison Sandy and Fern Huffman Sandy Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Marlene Stottlemire Sandy whom he married November 12, 1968. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons; Brian L. Sandy and fiancée Hazel Heater of Worthington and SFC Mark C. Sandy and fiancée of Carolina, WV (currently stationed in Kuwait); one brother; Allen Sandy of Fairmont and one sister; Karen Cunningham and husband David of Monongah. David was a veteran of the United States Army having served during Vietnam, and was employed as a truck driver with Tamron Company. He was very proud of both of his sons Brian and Mark who served in the National Guard and he was a member of the VFW post 629 of Fairmont. David liked to fish, loved watching the history channel, he loved trucks and liked to be around his trucker friends and telling stories with them. He was a loving husband, good father and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
