David Larry Caplinger, 78, of Bargersville, passed away Friday August 12, 2016, in Bargersville.

Larry was born on April 21, 1938, in Franklin to Walter Franklin and Marthena Blanche (Ashley) Caplinger.

He married Mary Lea Cook on January 28, 1961, in Columbus, Indiana; they were married for 55 years.

He was employed with Arvin Automotive as a shipping clerk, retiring in 1995 after 33 1/2 years of service.

Larry enjoyed playing the piano, going fishing, doing crossword puzzles, watching western movies, and helping his friends work on the their farms.

He loved spending time with his family and friends at their farm house, swimming, playing croquet, enjoying the animals, and sharing great meals. He was a member of First Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lea (Cook) Caplinger of Bargersville; three sons, Gregory (Dorothy) Caplinger of Kentucky, Danny (Dawn) Caplinger of Texas and Robert (Pam) Caplinger of Morgantown; sister, Sharon (Dean) Service of Franklin; six grandchildren, Heather, Adam, Dustin, Jennifer,  Laura,  and Leanne; five great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Dakota, Morgan, Ella, and Deegan

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dayton Caplinger and a grandson, Scotty Caplinger.
