David L. Souder, Lt. Colonel, USAF (Retired) passed away October 21, 2019. Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1936, he was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Virginia and the University of Oklahoma. He served his country for 27 years, mostly with the Strategic Air Command. Following his military retirement, he worked in the Aerospace Industry and later relocated to the Indian River Colony Club (IRCC) in Viera, Florida. David volunteered at the Suntree Library, served on the Survival Assistance Team and edited the Colony Voice community newsletter. He loved classical music and subscribed to the Brevard Symphony Orchestra for 26 years.
Additionally, he enjoyed dogs, travel, tennis, snorkeling, deep-sea fishing and read voraciously.
He is survived by his wife Sally, to whom he was married for 61 years. He leaves behind three daughters, Natalie Wirtz (Kevin) of Mt. Airy, MD, Andrea George (Tom) and Jennifer Rooney of Annapolis, MD, six grandchildren Jake, Rachel and Michael Wirtz, Taylor and Henry George and Fiona Rooney.
