David Lamar Thompson, 63, of Dacula, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.
He was preceded in death by parents, Clifford Lee and Margie Faye Thompson, and brother, Donald L. Thompson.
David is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Trinket Thompson of Dacula; sons, Cody David Thompson (Becca) of Jefferson, GA, Seth Cogan Thompson (Ashley) of Bogart, GA, Austin Lee Thompson of Dacula, GA, Caleb Levi Thompson of Dacula, GA, and Dallas Colton Thompson of Dacula, Ga; three grandchildren, Branson Cody Thompson, Brigham David Thompson, and Brynley Kate Thompson; aunt, Doris Bishop of Braselton, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was a graduate of Duluth High School and went on to a long career in law enforcement at Duluth Police Department, Alpharetta Police Department, and retired from Cherokee County Sheriff’s office in 2012. As a retiree he spent his time helping neighbors and his community with various projects. He was a loving husband, father, and Paw Paw. He gave his life to help others. After raising three boys, he and Trinket went on a journey of expanding their immediate family by fostering 22 children and ultimately adopting two more boys.
