He married Gayla Weed on November 15, 1975, at Eternity Baptist Church and she survives him in Centralia.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Jeff Scarborough of Centralia and Chad Tippit of Centralia; four daughters: Shanna Bateman and husband Jim, Angela Betters and husband Alan, Amy Benjamin and husband Michael, and Emily Gansauer and husband Dustin all of Centralia; twelve grandchildren: Paige Tippit, Bradyn Bateman, Jacob Bateman, Haylee Benjamin, Gavin Benjamin, Logan Benjamin, Preslee Betters, Parker Betters, Grace Neff, Finley Gansauer and Mattie Scarborough; one sister-in-law: Barb Tippit of Centralia; three nieces: Michelle Basden of Centralia, Laura Mayer and husband Brent of Centralia, and Jennifer Zink and husband Josh of Louisville, IL; and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Fred Tippit, and granddaughter Ellie Bateman. David worked as a concrete mason for many years and was a Jack of all trades.

He was a devoted Christian and a member of Eternity Baptist Church in Centralia. Those that knew him, knew that he was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and father figure to all of his kid’s friends. He lived for his family and when he wasn’t entertaining his grandkids, you could find him in the sound booth at church, in his garage fixing something, in the kitchen cooking his famous tacos, or binge-watching seasons of Mash. His mission in life was to teach his family the word of God and to witness all of his children turn their lives over to Christ.
