David L. Lough, 67, of 50763 E. Indiana Lake Road, died at 9:25 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 6, 2007) in East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Sept. 24, 1940, in Three Rivers, Mich., to John Earl and Mary Etta (Frank) Lough. On Nov. 8, 1969, he married Virginia Hostetler in Elkhart.
She survives along with a daughter, Paula Heaton of North Liberty; three sons, Matthew D. (Gretchen) Lough of Indianapolis, Andrew J. (Meredith) Lough of Indianapolis, and Craig (Barbara) Mast of Galien, Mich.; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers, Robert (Joan) Lough of Venice, Fla., Richard (Martha) Lough of Danville, Ky., and Jack (Phyllis) Lough of Elkhart; and two sisters, Barbara Lough of Ellenton, Fla., and Marilyn Krueger of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Deisler.
Mr. Lough had been the golf course superintendent at Christiana Creek Country Club for 32 years before retiring in 2001. He was formerly employed at Point O’ Woods in Benton Harbor, Mich.
He was a member of the Italian American Relief Association, a life member of the Elks Lodge 425, a 35-year member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and a member of the Minnesota Golf Course Superintendents Association. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a graduate of Elkhart High School and the 1996 winner of the Tom Stephenson Award.
