David L. German, 69, of South Williamsport, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family after a five year battle with cancer.
Born February 25, 1942 in Williamsport, he was a son of John and Elizabeth Souter German.
He was a 1960 graduate of Williamsport High School and had worked at GRIT for 48 years. Dave was a member of Lycoming Creek Anglers Club and loved being outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed biking, kayaking, and canoeing. He loved spending time at Rose Valley Lake and working in his yard. He was a member First Presbyterian Church, where he served on the Session, the Board of Deacons, and various committees. His biggest joy was his wife and family and their devoted dog “Bear”.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years Sue German, three children David L. German (Andrew Berman) of Washington, D.C., Debra S. Schneider (Jim) of Linden, and Mark J. German (Hilarie) of South Williamsport, two grandsons Benjamin and Matthew, and a brother John A. German of Montoursville.
