David L. Crutcher, 90, of Moberly, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020. He was born December 29, 1929 in Cairo, MO to Loyd and Opal (Halterman) Crutcher.
David grew up in the surrounding area and lived in Cairo, Huntsville and Moberly. His family was known to have run the McCormick Crutcher Dairy Farm. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 and served in the Philippines as a Morse Code Operator before receiving an honorable discharge in 1954. He also played second basemen for the Air Force softball team. Prior to retirement he had worked for Orscheln Trucklines, Dupont and had been a rural mail carrier.
David married Rose Kirby on June 1, 1952 in Gulfport, MS, and she survives of the home. Also surviving are his two daughters, Pam Prewitt and husband Roger and Julie Williams and husband Frankie all of Moberly, five grandchildren; Tara Bowden, Tyler Benner, Jamie Bodle, Clayton Williams and Andrea Hayes, seven great-grandchildren; Felicia Bowden, Kayle and Bryson Yowell, Kylie Williams, Ethan Bodle and Hattie and Clara Hayes, one great-great-grandchild, Layton Bowden, three brothers; Robert Crutcher and wife Gloria, Charles Crutcher and wife Roberta and Earl Crutcher all of Moberly, a sister, Margaret Brown of Kansas City, MO, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Greg Crutcher.
David was a man of many talents; he was a track star and held the NEMO Record for the mile. He had several hobbies including; showing champion dairy cattle, traveling to cattle and horse shows and serving as a ring master at the Missouri State Fair for several years; he was also known as a superb horse farrier and for showing his cart pony, Miss Fizz. David was known as “FaFa” to the grandkids and “Cru” and “Stud” to others.
David really loved playing board games with the grand and great-grandkids. One of David’s favorite places to go was Thomas Motors to have coffee with his buddies, where he will be greatly missed. He was a member of the Sweet Springs Baptist Church. David accepted Jesus as his Savior on January 7, 2020, one of the most important decisions he ever made, well done David, you ended well!
