David was born February 15, 1929 to Frank and Ida (Kuhl) Michal in Elk Creek, Nebraska at his grandparent’s home (Henry and Effie Kuhl). He graduated from Flagler High School in 1946. He was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Flagler.

David married Gwendolyn (Gwenn) Henningsen on February 11, 1951 in Wray, CO. To this marriage were born 5 children; Jim, Chris, Janet, Eunice, and Linda.

David and Gwenn lived in Wray for a few months then moved north of Flagler, CO, and farmed and ranched there until they retired. David started Michal Auction Service. He auctioned and did real estate appraisals until he retired. David is preceded in death by: wife, Gwenn; parents, Frank and Ida Michal; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Lee Ellsworth, Florence and Alfred Dorsey, Eunice and Jimmie Shaw; brother and sister-in-law, LaVern and Kathy Michal; brother, Norman Michal; foster brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Elva Williamson; and great granddaughter, Abby Michal.

David leaves to mourn his sons, Jim (Beverly) Michal and Chris (Janice) Michal; daughters, Janet (Jim) Riese, Eunice (Scott) Morris, and Linda Loutzenhiser (fiancé Jim Cline); 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Arlene Henningsen; and many nieces and nephews.
