Dave Allen Johnson,62, passed away in Las Cruces, NM.
David Johnson was born January 8th, 1954, growing up in Midland, Michigan he was a college Graduate of Michigan State University. He came to Deming in the early ’80s to work at our local radio station KOTS. Soon after Dave became a member of the Deming Duck Race Committee which he served until his last days.
In the year 2000, he opened his own business, South Western New Mexico Online, becoming Deming’s first local Internet Service Provider. In 2001 he became a member of The Deming Elks Lodge where he was a very active member. Dave had gone through all the office chairs and even became District Deputy for Deming’s district. He held state chairs as well serving as Chairman of internet activities and was a part of the state charity Cerebral Palsy. In 2009 he became Elk of the Year, and from 2011-2012 also Officer of the Year. Lodge Secretary was the final chair he sat. Dave was a member of the lodge for 13 years.
Dave became ill in 2014 and fought long and hard leaving us Saturday, March 26th, 2016 at 8:30 pm. He will be missed and always hold a place in our hearts.
