David J. White, 75, a lifelong resident of Manchester, beloved husband of 53 years of Mary (Johnson) White passed away peacefully from complications of Parkinson Disease on Sunday, December 16, 2018 with his family at his side. He was born on February 14, 1943 in Manchester one of three children of the late Jabez and Helen White. Dave was raised in Manchester, attended local schools and was a graduate of MHS, Class of 1961. Dave was a standout softball player and overall athlete. He was well known in the Hartford area for all his softball accomplishments and was inducted into the Manchester Sports Hall of Fame in 1994. Prior to his retirement Dave was employed as a mail carrier for over 36 years working out of the Vernon/Rockville Post Office. He was an avid and dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and UConn Huskies. In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law; David J. White Jr. and his children; Amelia and Jabez, and Darren and Mary White and their daughter Colleen, his sister; Bette-Ann Vittner, several nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents Dave was predeceased by his sister Diane. Dave’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Woodlake at Tolland for their kind and compassionate care.
