David Hendershot, 76, of Rayville LA was born on September 10, 1946 in Bastrop LA, and peacefully passed away in at his home Saturday October 8, 2022 in Rayville LA.
David was proceeded in death by his father, Oliver David Hendershot Sr.; his mother, Gertrude Mitcham Hendershot McKnight; life-long mentor and father figure, William “Bill” Womack; mother and father-in-law, Charles Felton and Rovertis Moncrief; brother-in-law, Clarence “Red” McMillan; and sister-in-law, Sandra Moncrief Riley.
David is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marsha Moncrief Hendershot of Rayville LA; two daughters, Shannon Lee Hendershot of West Monroe, LA and Shellie Hendershot Yates and fiancé, Todd Telano of Start, LA; two sisters, Amanda Hendershot McMillan of Brandon MS and Diane Hendershot Brigman of Sterlington, LA; newly found brother, Joe Pratt and wife Mary Sue Pratt of Canton MS.; brother, Billy Womack of Mer Rouge LA; sister-in-law, Rebecca Moncrief Mees and husband Shane of Katy TX; brother-in-law, Mike Moncrief and wife Donna of Monroe LA, brother-in-law, Mike Riley of Bastrop, LA, and brother-in-law, Jack Brigman of Bastrop LA; his 4 grandchildren who were his pride and joy, William Edward “Billy” Smith of Monroe, LA, Mathew Charles Yates of Bossier City LA, Bailee Elizabeth Smith of West Monroe LA., and John David Yates of Bossier City LA. David is also survived many special nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
David worked as a Nuclear Med Tech for over 40 years at the hospital in Rayville and retired from LSU Ochsner in Monroe.
David was known and loved throughout the Rayville community where he lived for the past 51 years where he never met a stranger and never turned his back from anyone who needed help.
He was an avid golfer who played as often as he could. He also loved his tools and fixing things for others. There was nothing he could not fix. He was always willing to lend a hand and made many friends along the way. David was completely devoted to his wife, daughters and grandkids.
Words cannot define how great a husband, daddy, papaw, and friend David was. His family is now comforted by the many wonderful memories they now hold so dear.
