David Guy Syfert, 86, of Kerrville, passed away on November 25, 2021.

David was born on December 11, 1934 in Boerne, Texas to Guy William Syfert and Jimalee Matlock. He graduated from Boerne High School in 1953 where he participated in football, track, and FFA. He began his career working as a bodyman at Graham Motors in Boerne, Texas. At his retirement, he was the body shop manager at Ancira Chevrolet in San Antonio, Texas. David was devoted to his wife, Betty and loved his family above all else. He was always available to lend a helping hand and didn’t shy away from hard work. As he grew older, he enjoyed spending time and catching up with his childhood friends. He loved the outdoors, traveling to places of natural beauty, riding horses, and fishing. He had a soft spot for all animals and children.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Merz Syfert; his son, Guy Syfert and daughter-in-law, Pam; his daughter, Dava Bass and son-in-law, Richard; his sister, Mary Jones; his sister-in-law, Brenda Bauer; his grandson, Dereck Syfert; his granddaughters, Ashley Crowder and Morgan Key;  his honorary grandson, Avery Kay; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Guy William Syfert; his mother, Jimalee Matlock; his sisters, Willie Clements, Esther Ruth Syfert, Mattie Ann Woerner, and Mabel Maribito; and his granddaughter, Shay Syfert Ray.

The family would like to express their gratitude to caregivers, Beth Canter, Paula Buxton, and Debbie Wilson who served their father so well and loved him like their very own.
