Gonyea, David S. Gonyea, age 81, of Shelton, died January 20, 2006 in his home with his loving family by his side. Mr. Gonyea was born in Bridgeport and was a longtime Huntington resident. He served as a Signalman First Class on a LST in the Pacific Campaign during WW II and was Past Commander of the American Legion Post 141 where he was very active in organizing the fishing derby, the baseball team, the high school scholarship program and the oratorical contest. He was also a member of the VFW Post 10059. Mr. Gonyea was predeceased by his wife, Clara Ziembroski Gonyea and his sisters, Marylou Fay and Thelma Keeler. Survivors include his son, Donald J. Gonyea and his companion, Susan Tereskiewicz of Monroe, one daughter, Karen M. Turner and her husband, David W. Turner of Huntington, two grandchildren, Claire J. Turner and Adam D. Turner. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, dear friend, Myra Chapman, and his faithful companion, “Rocky”.
