David G. Snyder, 82, of Bristol, passed away after an extended illness Tuesday morning, July 30, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Elkhart. He was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Northampton, Mass., to Grant B. and Ruth (Putman) Snyder. On Aug. 5, 1955, he married his wife, Nancy Jean (Hanks) Snyder, in Elkton, Md.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, other survivors include three sons, Steven (Linda) Snyder of Elkhart, Scott (Lisa) Snyder of Mishawaka and James (Simmy) Snyder of Elkhart; daughter Susan (Todd) Collins of Elkhart; brother Dr. Richard (Phoebe) Snyder of Tucson, Ariz.; sister Catherine Parker of North Amherst, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
David served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from January 1951 until January 1955. David worked for several years as an independent contractor in the mobile home industry as well as owned and operated his own scooter shop and worked as a carpenter during most of his working years.
