David G. Metcalf, age 73, of Berlin Center, died at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the St. Elizabeth Emergency and Diagnostic Center ER in Austintown. He was born February 19, 1941 in Athens, Ohio son of the late George and Mary (Stevens) Metcalf. David was a 1959 graduate of Salem High School and had worked as a baker for the Baker Union. He served in the U.S Army. He enjoyed wine making, hunting, gardening and meeting monthly with his high school class. His wife, Gayle (Griffiths) Metcalf, whom he married August 23, 1980, preceded him in death February 17, 1998. His stepmother, Edna Metcalf, who raised him and a brother, Robert Metcalf also preceded him in death. Survivors include three daughters, Kim (Bruce) Dole of Salem, Debra (Gary) Weber of Washingtonville and Jennifer (Michael) Metcalf Monday of Salem; a son, Eric (Ashley) Metcalf of Athens; two sisters, Gerry (Jim) Dorsey of Salem and Mary Ann Yarwood of Boardman; two brothers, Chuck and Danny Metcalf both of Florida; six grandchildren and one great-granchild.
