COL David Eugene Glasrud, 77, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on Sunday, March 21, in Cañon City, Colorado.  Dave was born in Pipestone, Minnesota. He graduated high school from John Marshall High School in Rochester, Minnesota, and went on to receive a degree from South Dakota State University.

Upon entry into the United States Army, Dave served our country both at home and abroad including assignments in Kentucky, Georgia, South Dakota, Missouri, Texas, New Mexico, Germany, and as a member of Special Forces in Viet Nam. After retirement, Dave settled in Mesa, Arizona, and enjoyed an apartment at the “High-Rise” in Cañon City, Colorado, to be close to his son.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents Leslie Glasrud and Margaret Rud Glasrud, his brother Robert (Bob) Glasrud, and his sister Camilla Crawford.

He is survived by his ex-wife (married 50 years) Jane Glasrud, son D. Scott Glasrud & ex-wife Patricia Glasrud (granddaughter Amber Guernsey & husband Adam, granddaughter Ashley Glasrud & great-grandson Soren, and grandson Cameron Glasrud), son Jon Glasrud & wife Nicole (grandson Joseph Mora & great-grandson Ryan Mora), brother Bruce Glasrud & wife Pearlene, sister Judy Lynn, sister Karen Wolf & husband Doug, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his companion Carol Haley and will be missed by Carol’s family Todd & Tina Thompson and their children Lily & Grace.

Dave thoroughly enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching sports of all kinds. He was an active member of the American Legion and will also be missed by many close friends there.  He was well known for always lending a helping hand and he took every opportunity to turn any situation into a social event.
