I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith – II Timothy 4:7

Deacon David Elliott Evans, son of the late Mr. Columbus Brannen and Ms. Arabelle Evans, was born June 20, 1952, in Ridgeville, SC. He was raised and nurtured by the late Rev. John and Myrtle Duberry. He was called to eternal rest on Monday, June 12, 2023.

Deacon Evans received his education from Berkeley County School System. He graduated from Central High School located in Cross, South Carolina. He then matriculated and graduated from Claflin University with a degree in Biology. He was a great advocate for education.

On January 1, 1977, he united into marriage to Louise Pressley of Ridgeville, SC who became his loyal and true helpmate. To this union, two children were born: Dacia Evans and David M. Evans. A brother, the late Joseph Smith, preceded him in death.

At an early age, he was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church; after receiving the gift of the baptism of the Holy Ghost, he joined The House of God Church, Ridgeville, SC. He served faithfully on the Deacon Board and Sunday School Teacher until his health failed.

Deacon Evans worked on many local jobs. However, upon completion of his degree from Claflin University, he was employed at Showa Denko Carbon in Ridgeville, SC where he was a Quality Control Specialist. He worked as an Installer of different floor products with Omar Floor Covering.

Deacon Evans was a BIG Clemson Tigers and Carolina Panthers fan and enjoyed taking in a good tennis match. His passion for writing poems will be forever missed.
