David Earl Allison, 66, of Florence, AZ, formerly of Galesburg, died Thursday, May 23, 2019 at home in Arizona.
David was born September 1, 1952 in Galesburg, the son Francis Henry and Sarah Frances (Ridings) Allison.
David married Linda Diane Tabb on December 30, 1992 in Galesburg. She survives. David is also survived by two daughters, Amanda (Chris) Vest of Galesburg and Larissa Allison of Charleston, SC; a step-daughter, Angela (Dustin) Whitsitt of Knoxville; and one sister, Debra Allison of Galesburg.
David is also survived by eight grandchildren, Justus and Zander Vest, Blakely Allison, Blake and Brooklyn VanBeveran, Brooklyn Whitsitt, and Chloe and Ella Whitsitt. Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Allison, Jr.
David graduated high school from Costa and attended Western Illinois University. He worked as a mechanical engineer for 35 years at Maytag and later retired from Whirlpool. He also worked for Caterpillar.
David had several passions throughout his life, from playing baseball in his younger years, to fishing, hunting, and golfing. In his later years he enjoyed nature and the “bambie’s.” He loved cooking and trying new recipes every chance he got.
David was an avid Cubs fan as well as the Iowa Hawkeye’s. He will be remembered for his charisma, strong work ethic, dancing and pancake making skills, and his give it to you straight but with an infectious smile attitude.
