DAVID WALTER DUNAGAN, 78, a longtime rancher and resident of Animas passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at home. David was born on April 8, 1936, in Douglas, Arizona.

He grew up in Animas and upon graduating he went to work with his brother Charles in a welding shop back in Douglas. This is where he met the love of his life, Billie Jo Moore. They were married on June 24th, 1958. David and Billie had five children: Doddie, Mona, Charles, Clint, and Buster. After spending a few years traveling the state working construction, David returned home to his first love, the Dunagan Ranch. He would go on to spend the rest of his life there raising his children, watching his grandchildren grow, and helping with a herd of great-grandchildren. As a rancher, David had hard days and long days as money was short and feed and water were shorter. But you would never hear him complain, he loved his wife, raised his children, and thought the sun rose and set for his grandchildren. In his words, “He truly had a perfect life.”

David is survived by two children, Mona Laupola and Clint Dunagan; his grandchildren, Dawn Conover, Dusti Conover, Pai Laupola, Vincent Laupola, TiAnna Laupola, James Dunagan, Candice Tenorio, Daniel Dunagan, Rebecca Dunagan, and Rachel Dunagan. His new herd of great cowboys and cowgirls, Vincent, Aric, Estella, Diego, Deidra, David, Leila, Scarlett, and Kingston. He is also survived by brothers Steve and Paul Dunagan, sisters, Marguerite Evans and Mary Waller, and numerous friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his father Monroe and mother Margaret, his brothers George and Charles, his beautiful wife Billie, and three children, Charles, Buster, and Doddie.
