David C. Weir, 85, of Fortville, passed away peacefully September 13, 2022, in Indianapolis. He was born on November 3, 1936, in Fortville to the late Lawrence P. and Mary (Schenkel) Weir.
David was a graduate of the old Fortville High School. He had been a body shop supervisor, and later worked as an adjustor for Farm Bureau Insurance, as well as delivering parts for the Fortville NAPA store. He was the longest attending parish member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Fortville, having been baptized in 1940. He was also a member of the Midwest Oldtimers Vintage Race Car Club. He was avid in all things racing, having driven a late model race car for Rex Ecoff, and raced with Mario Andretti. He also enjoyed bowling.
David is survived by children Christy (Tim) Wilson of Ingalls, Patrick McGrory of Elwood, and Julie (Bill) Prasuhn of Fortville; step-children Pam (Bill) Moyer and Dan Longerbone; grandchildren Mary (Dave) Byrnes; Leanne (Van) van de Bossche Roberts, Andy Garst, Matt (Macaria) Wilson, Eric (Amanda) Garst, and Tim (Melissa) Garst; step-grandchildren Robyn (Ryan) Weaver, Ashley Boutwell, and Brittany (Travis) Bunnell; great-grandchildren: Aria, Finely, Gwen, Jack, Olivia, Jacob and Lincoln; thirteen step-great-grandchildren; siblings Mary Helen (Rich) Drake, Jim (Dixie) Weir and Peggy Hunt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Reba (Norman) Weir, and son David Weir.
