David Carr, 94, of Elkhart, passed into the arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on August 8, 2022. He was born July 31, 1928, in Erie, PA. to the late Frank R and Ethel (Turney) Carr. On August 6,1950, he married Mary E Kile, (who preceded him in death), at Zion Missionary Church, Elkhart Indiana.
Surviving are daughters Dawn E. (Richard) Raeder of Elkhart and Valarae S.(Michael) Pfister of Huntsville, Alabama; son David Brent (Andrea) Carr of Edwardsburg, Michigan; grandchildren Franklin, Adam, and Daniel Carr, Matthew, Anthony, and Joseph Raeder, Valaine Perry and Moriah Pfister; step-grandchildren Matt, Jessica and Cody; great-grandchildren Josiah, Malachi, Aliyah, Judah, Elias, Titus, Phinehas, Azariah, Cadence, Conley, Adalyn, and Brynleigh Carr, Carter, Traver, and Sevyn Jefferys and Arthur and Elise Raeder; and Step great-grandchildren Keelee King and Gabriel and Isabella Cole. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews, along with cousins who loved him very much. Also preceding David in death are his brothers Arthur, Ernest and Leland, and sisters Jennie Wolfe, Ida Griffis, Frances Chamberlin and Ruth Flint.
David attended Coyne Electrical School, Chicago Evangelistic Institute and Bethel College studying Music and Bible Lit. He was employed at Miles (Bayer) lab for 42 years, retiring in 1993 as a Carpenter Journeyman. He was gifted in many areas including music, wood working and carpentry. David and his wife Mary served for 20 years as leaders of the JOY (Just Older Youth). He taught Sunday School for Zion Missionary Church and Bethany Missionary for over 55 years. He was asked by Bethany Church to start a choir and lead the music. David led the choir and planned special music for over 23 years at Bethany. He and his wife (and sometimes their children) sang together at Bethany for 43 years. He was the founding member of the “Bethany Four Quartet”. He was a proud member of Beulah Missionary Church.
