David Carl Oppelt passed away on Sunday, June 17th in Milford Hospital. He was 54 years of age. David was born in Rush City, MN. He lived his childhood years in Kentucky, Illinois and Connecticut. He has been a resident of Milford for over 20 years. A lover of baroque music, David studied the flute and appreciated performances by the Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra. He also possessed the ability to memorize the catalogues of various rock bands. David enjoyed long walks through the many neighborhoods of Milford and reveled in the ambience of Long Island Sound. He read several scientific works and was versatile with his vocabulary. He was predeceased by his father, Dr. Robert L. Oppelt of Birmingham, MI. David is survived by his mother Miriam Giannone of Milford, brother Rev. Rick (Joanne) Oppelt of South Plainfield, NJ, sister Carla (Bruce) Bednarsky of Shelton, CT, brother Robert (Nicolette) Oppelt of Fairfax, VA as well as 8 nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Deborah DiCarvalho of Milford, his beloved companion of 20 years.
