David Allen Benjamin was born on May 18, 1955 in Fort Dodge Iowa. He died on February 7, 2017 following a sudden illness. He grew up in Bradgate, Iowa. He graduated from Gilmore City-Bradgate High School in 1973 and from Waldorf College in 1975. He married Brenda Lee Hutchinson in 1977 and they were blessed with 2 children. At the time of his death, David was employed at Stratford Gravel, Inc. David is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Brenda of Gilmore City; his son Brad (Keri) Benjamin of Humboldt; daughter Jessica (Alex) Benjamin of State Center; grandchildren Reese and Jase Benjamin, Humboldt, Iowa; parents Stanley (Butch) and Merna (Doeringsfeld) Benjamin of Gilmore City; mother-in-law Jeanne (Peters) Hutchinson of Gilmore City; brother Steve Benjamin of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother Mark (Jami) of Peosta, Iowa; sister-in-law Linda (Lynn) of Plainfield, Illinois; sister-in-law Pat (Don) Cirks of Gilmore City, Iowa; brother -in- law Steve (Teresa) Hutchinson of Humboldt, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Daryl Hutchinson and his grandparents Fred and Beulah Benjamin and Olaf and Lily Doeringsfeld. David’s greatest loves were his wife, his kids, and grandkids. He enjoyed hunting and watching sports, especially the Cubs and Hawkeyes. He always looked forward to weekend trips with his friends and wife to flea markets and gun shows. He enjoyed walks with his dogs and arrowhead hunting. David was also an avid reader and history buff.
