David Anthony Wheeler, (Tony / Pa), of Louisburg passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023. Born December 28, 1951, Tony was the son of Claude and Eva (Harris) Wheeler, resided in Louisburg, NC, and graduated from Youngsville High School’s class of 1970. He retired from a successful career in the textile industry in the mid 90’s as a Supervisor. He went on to spend the next 30 years known as the Crawdad Man, owning and operating a seasonal crawfish farm that brought him the joys of the outdoors and meeting people from all walks of life.

Tony and his wife of 25 years, Jackie Newman Wheeler, raised their two children, Greg and Kristen, who are blessed with many memories of a kind, fun and loving father.

Tony was never happier than when he was cooking and feeding anyone who would show up. He lived a full life, loved laughing and joking and telling stories, most of which weren’t true – at least not his version. He was a homebody. Home is where he wanted to be until the very end, and home is where he was.

Tony’s survivors include his brother, Mike Wheeler, and his children and grandchildren: Greg and daughter-in-law Natalie Wheeler, parents to his grandsons Raeford and Asher; and Kristen and son-in-law Barry Carpenter, parents to his grandsons Brayden and Chance.
