David Allan Selke died suddenly Saturday morning, November 26, 2022. He passed away peacefully with his wife by his side. Dave was the son to the late Joseph A. and Libia C. (Bucar – Bush) Selke. Dave was born in Detroit, Michigan, and attended Catholic Central High School and Wayne State University. Drafted into the U.S. Army, Dave proudly served in the Vietnam War. While in the army, he played on both the baseball and tennis teams.

 

Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Dave worked his way up the corporate ladder, starting at the bottom working the assembly lines on the Mustang convertibles at Ford Motor Company. He became well known in the automobile finance world, working for Ford Motor Credit Corporation and then World Omni Finance Corporation of Southeast Toyota, where he retired as a Vice President. He also served as a consultant for many start-ups in the automobile finance industry. He enjoyed a successful career of 50 years in the automotive field making many friends along the way. He served on many advisory boards, including, but not limited to, the United Way, Partners in Education, and Chamber of Commerce. In his spare time, he loved all sports, playing golf, racquetball and tennis, winning many trophies during his lifetime. He was also a devout Catholic and attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Community.  

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Janice M. Selke, of Rockledge, FL, his daughter, Dr. Tamala S. Bradham (husband Dr. William S. Bradham, Jr.), his grandchildren, Caroline H. Bradham, William S. Bradham, III, and Camden A. Bradham of Madison, WI; brothers, Paul M. Selke of Wolverine Lake, MI, Matthew E. Selke of Martin City, MT, John P. Selke (wife Julie Selke) of Perrinton, MI, and Daniel J. Selke of Ponte Vedra, FL; sisters, Diane M. Selke of Lansing, MI and Susan V. Selke of Lansing, MI, and late sister Kathleen Selke; an aunt, Barbara M. Valauri of Raleigh, NC; an uncle Richard J. Selke (wife Vera Selke) of Westland, Michigan; and multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews.
