David Alan Zaun, age 64, died at Huntsville Hospital (Alabama) on July 23, 2021. David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margaret (Eubanks) Browning, of Ardmore, Alabama; his mother, Helen (Currey) Zaun, of Madison, Alabama; sister Sandra Zaun, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; sister Brenda Zaun (spouse Michael Hawkes), of Yuma, Arizona; and nephew Ryan Nichols of Fayetteville, Arkansas. David was preceded in death by his father, Gary Zaun, buried in Huntsville Memory Gardens.

David was born on March 29, 1957 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas to Gary and Helen Zaun. Growing up as the son of a career U.S. Army soldier, David had lived in Kansas, Indiana, Germany, Alabama, Guam, Minnesota, Illinois, and then returned and settled in Alabama. He graduated from Sparkman High School (Toney, Alabama) in 1975. He worked as an automobile mechanic, specializing in Pontiac Fieros.

David always had a smile on his face and a joke to share. He loved the outdoors, tinkering with cars, and his cats. He had a kind heart and lent a hand to anyone in need. One of his fondest memories was when he and other car show enthusiasts got to drive their Fieros for a lap on the Daytona International Race Track. David enjoyed other classic vehicles as well, including owning a few Ford Econoline pickup trucks.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Huntsville Hospital and American Family Care Whitesburg for their compassionate medical care for David. Also, the family truly appreciates all of the kind and considerate help from friends, including David and Dawn Farmer, Kenny, Carol, Jessica, and Casey.
