SEARLES, David A. Of Scotts. Dave passed away Friday evening, February 24, 2012 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. He was a very courageous and brave man, who fought a “SEARLES STRONG” battle with cancer. Dave was born March 30, 1952 in Kalamazoo, the son of Kenneth and Barbara Harrison Searles. He was employed by James River Co. Crown-Vantage for 27 years.
He worked for Clausing Industrial, Inc. for 6 years, and finished his career as a carpenter. Dave was a member of both the Riverbend Boat Club and Neon Nite Cruisers Car Club and was very proud of his ’62 Chevy Impala that he restored. Dave was an angler who enjoyed ice fishing and Lake Michigan salmon fishing, as well as an avid Texas Hold’em player. On June 27, 1992, he was united in marriage to the former Rebecca “Becky” Fruehauf, who survives.
Also surviving are his three children, Dianna Searles of Lawrence, Scott Searles of Arizona and Cassie Riddle of Texas; expected granddaughter, Charlette Alayne Riddle-Medina; three brothers, Kenneth Jr. “Butch” Sandra Searles of Kalamazoo, Steven Searles of Plainwell and William “Bill” Searles of California; and several nieces, nephews, many in-laws and extended family and friends.
