David Alan Geary “Alan”, age 68 died early Sunday morning at home. He went to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Alan was born as an only child to David and Barbara Geary in Centralia, IL.
The family then moved to Houston, TX where Alan was raised.  He graduated from Principia High School, and eventually moved to Colorado in the early 1970’s. 
In Colorado Alan started his distinguished Law Enforcement career as a Reserve in Denver in the 1970’s.  He worked for Cherry Hills and then went on to be employed by Aurora PD, where eventually retired from Aurora. During that time he married Janet and to them was born their only daughter Caitlin, who was the joy of his life.  He also was very active and held various board positions with the Aurora Police Association and was Chief Negotiator. He served as PIO for APD, was on patrol, and was instrumental in forming the DART Unit.
After retiring from APD, he was hired by Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office and worked in the CCW Unit, and also the Extraditions Unit.  He eventually retired from ACSO, and went on to train CCW permit holders with his business of Use of 4orce Training.  He was also a board member and Vice President of the Colorado Police Protective Assn up until his death.  
Alan served as a public servant for many years. He was a well respected man who was kind, loving, and a good friend.  He will be missed by his family and friends and former coworkers.
He is survived by his wife Janet, and daughter Caitlin.
