Dave Dobson Sr., 67, of Jacksonville, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at his home.
He was born Feb. 27, 1947, in Springfield, the son of Wayne Edward and Ruth Eileen Johnson Dobson.
He is survived by his daughter, Debra Dobson of Springfield; his sons, David (Angie) Dobson II of Jacksonville and Adam (Magan) Dobson of Pooler, GA; five grandchildren, Ashlee (Damian) Peyton of Columbia, MO, Evan Berry of Woodson, Robert Dobson and Brianna Dobson, both of Jacksonville, and Lillian Claire Dobson of Pooler, GA; one great grandson, Dylan Howard Peyton of Columbia, MO; three brothers, Huey (Donna) Dobson of Adrian, MI, Rodney (Victoria) Dobson of Edgerton, OH, and Wayne Hill of Jacksonville; and one sister, Dr. Charlotte Hovey of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Bryan Jacob Dobson.
Mr. Dobson worked many years for Illinois Power and retired from Ameren Illinois. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge #3 and the Chapin American Legion. Dave enjoyed riding his Harley and especially enjoyed golfing with his buddies. The light of his life was his grandchildren and he was very proud of his new great grandson.
