Daryll H. Seymour, 79, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
He was born Apr. 11, 1938, in Nortonville, the son of Fletcher G. and Ethel Mae Mellor Seymour. He married Linda D. Turner on Oct. 27, 1961, in Jacksonville and she preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 2009.
He is survived by one daughter, Tammy (Brian) Slater of Jacksonville; one son, Greg (Laura) Seymour of Woodson; three grandchildren, Serene (Kara) Seymour of Literberry, Darrin (Margaret) Seymour of Loami, and Curtis (Kayla) Slater of Jacksonville; and six great grandchildren, Brexton and Maverick Slater, and Andrew, Addysen, William and Eleanor Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one sister, Betty Clayton.
Mr. Seymour was a 1956 graduate of Franklin High School. He then joined the U.S. Navy, serving on aircraft carriers. Upon his discharge, he began work at Anderson-Clayton in Jacksonville, retiring in 2004. After his retirement he drove for West Central Mass Transit, and then drove a school bus for Jacksonville School District #117. He was a member of Liter Baptist Church, and a lifelong farmer. Daryll worshiped his grandchildren. Linda taught Daryll how to love, and she was the love of his life.
