Daryl L. Wheatley, 72, of Alexandria, passed away on February 9, 2022, in Arkansas, and gained his wings and joined his loved ones and fur babies that have gone before him. He was born on December 17, 1949, in Madison, Indiana, the son of Raymond and Mary (Whitsitt) Wheatley.

Daryl was an over-the-road truck driver for Carter Express. Prior to that, he retired from Universal Tool & Engineering having worked as a machinist and purchasing agent after 24 years of service. He was a proud member of the NRA. Daryl was an avid NASCAR and a Dale Earnhardt fan. He also enjoyed history, farm life, vintage cars, riding horses, and fishing.

Daryl is survived by his loving wife whom he married August 5, 1994, Dana (Scott) Wheatley; children, Brandy (Justin) Kuhn, Chris Wade, and Melissa (Jeremy) Penn; siblings, Mary Raetta (Henry) Lamper, Chuck (Debbie) Wheatley, Jerry (Audra) Wheatley, and Paul Wheatley; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; special friends and colleagues, Ron Meyer and John Wade; and beloved fur babies, Barney and Annie. He will be greatly missed by his wife, family, and friends.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sharon Wheatley; infant children, Adam and Brian Wheatley; sister, Darlene Newman; nieces, Monique Stafford and Dominque Robinette; and sister-in-law, Gladys Wheatley.
