Daryl E. Eshleman, 85, of Rensselaer passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Parkview Haven in Francesville. Born May 1, 1924 in Rensselaer, he was the son of Leonard I. and Susie B. (Lee) Eshleman. He was a wonderful brother to five siblings and the beloved uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved and respected by his extended family. He is survived by one brother, Morris Eshleman of Rensselaer. Daryl was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Uncle Daryl worked in many trades in his life and retired from Northway Products in Rensselaer where he worked for many years. He enjoyed staying in contact with his fellow workers and enjoyed the friendship of his long-time neighbors. Uncle Daryl took pride in baking pies and angle food cakes and he knew better to not show up at Thanksgiving dinner with out one of his desserts, for they were awaited with much anticipation. He was also known for his love of crocheting and the many beautiful afghans his hands turned out in his lifetime. Recipients of his afghans treasured his loving gifts. He took pride in carefully recording the family genealogy so it could be passed down for generations to come. He looked forward to coffee breaks with his friends and visiting with the kind employees at those establishments. Uncle Daryl was never known to be without an opinion, which he freely shared, like it or not! We will miss him.
