Darwin Frederick Sehlke, age 82, of Fowler, died on May 10, 2024 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing surrounded by his loving family.Darwin was born on October 27, 1941 to Frederick and Louise (McPrangle) Sehlke in St. Johns, Michigan, and grew up in Fowler. After graduation from Fowler High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on October 13, 1959. He served onboard the USS Shenandoah and received an honorable discharge on October 2, 1962. After his service in the Navy he was admitted to the Lansing Police Academy. He began his law enforcement career in 1963 with the Grand Ledge Police Force. He went on to serve with the Lansing Police Department, the MSP Academy, and retired from the Clinton County Sheriffs Department. He served in law enforcement for over thirty years. Throughout his life he served his country and his community proudly.Darwin was an avid hunter and loved to fish. He was an expert marksman and could shoot accurately with both hands. He learned to hunt and fish from his beloved father, Frederick Sehlke. Golf, softball, and bowling were some of his favorite hobbies. He was a fast pitch pitcher and pitched well into his sixties.He is survived by his daughter, Vicki (Dennis) Robbins, his son, Brian Sehlke, grandchildren, Steven Robbins and Sharlea (Ben) Williams, great grandson, Atlas Williams, sister, Juliann Johnson, niece, Heather Johnson, and great niece, Harley Johnson.
