Mr. Darwell Fred Davis, age 79, of Sharpsburg, GA passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019.
Mr. Davis was born in Andalusia, AL on May 15, 1940, to the late Fred W. Davis and the late Myrtle Sasser Davis. Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Army and was a former CEO of Cherokee – Edwards Heating and Air. Uncle Buddy or Big Daddy D as he was called by many attended the University of Alabama before joining the Army where he served in Germany during his tour. He was a lover of all things Alabama, especially Alabama Football and the great outdoors. He was known for his enjoyment of a good joke or spinning “tall tales”. Whether reminiscing of his days fishing, hunting, and guiding on Lake Okeechobee, spending time with his buddies and family, Wampus cats, or the best gumbo he ever put in his mouth, he always had a story to share or a lesson to impart. Rarely did one part ways with Uncle Buddy, Uncle Darwell, or Big Daddy D without hearing him say, “Take it easy!”
He is preceded in death by a sister, Ann Davis Smith He is survived by his loving companion of 26 years, Glynda Brackett; nephews and niece, Shane (Charlotte) Smith, Chalet Smith, and Sloan (Jeanne) Smith, and; grand nieces and nephews, Blakley Rials, Davis & Addie Smith, Abigail Smith, Emily Fears, Madison Fann, and; step-children, Julie Paton, Tracey Brackett, Vernon (Kathy) Brackett, and Candice Hawthorne; grandchildren, Nick & Allen Brackett, Kate & Annie Paton, and Joey Hawthorne.
