Mr. Darrion O’Gwin Bernard was born June 29, 1962 in Jackson to the late Claudzell Bernard and Marion Bernard. He was a resident of Helena. Darrion attended Jackson High School. He went on to obtain his CDL license and became a truck driver, driving for thirty-one years. Darrion was a son, a great father, a great grandfather, a brother, an uncle, a friend. Darrion Bernard or “Sally Hawk” as some called him, was always passing by with a big smile. An avid lover of sports, he loved his LSU Tigers and his Jackson Aggies. No matter where the road took him, he was always keeping in contact with family and friends. He loved and cherished his family and friends near and far.

Darrion departed his life on Nov. 16 2019 at Jackson Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents: one sister Mae Retha Bernard; one brother, Sonny Bernard.

He leaves to cherish his memories three children: Cedric (LaTonya) Bernard of Hueytown, Dominque Bernard of Mobile and Genesis Bernard of Fayetteville, N.C.; one aunt, Ms. Earnestine Brown of Huston, Texas: two brothers: Mr. Clausell Ray Bernard and Mr. James (Johnnie) Bernard both of Jackson; adopted brother, Floyd Bernard: three sisters, Ms. Glarin Hadley, Ms. Ida Bernard and Mrs. Shirley (Ronnie) Starling all of Jackson; adopted sister, Shameka (Kenneth) Jackson. He also leaves to cherish his memories three grandchildren, Taylor Bernard of Birmingham, Paxton Bernard of Hueytown and Bailee Waver of Mobile with a host of nieces, nephews and a special friend Ms. Alisa Anderson.
