Darrell Russell Schnitker
Darrell Russell Schnitker, 79, a resident of Gooding, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding.
Darrell was born on September 7, 1932 in Twin Falls, Idaho the son of Lester and Wilma Schnitker. He was raised on a farm and developed a strong work ethic as a young boy.
As a young adult, he attended the University of Idaho and graduated in VoAg Education. Darrell met his wife, Billee Jacoby at the University of Idaho and they were married in 1955.
Darrell served in the Army for two years and he and Billee lived in Seattle, Washington during this time. After being released from the Army, Darrell started his teaching career in Idaho Falls. He taught eight years in Idaho Falls and then he and Billee moved to Gooding, Idaho.
Darrell then began a welding business with a dear friend, Wayne Ills. D&W Welding became his livelihood until a second retirement in 1995.
Darrell treasured his family and many friends. He loved RV’ing, fishing and was very involved in the Gooding B.P.O.E. He thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of Elk friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Marie Coates; and his parents, Lester and Wilma Schnitker.
Darrell is survived by: his loving wife, Billee Schnitker; his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Donna Schnitker; his daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Mark Sabala; and his brother, Norm Schnitker. His grandkids include: Katy and Kyle Turpen, Justin and Kierra Schnitker, Kristen and Joey Zubizarreta, Zach Sabala, Kelly Coates and Trish Lehmann and Taylor Coates; his great grandchildren include: Ayden Schnitker, Gracie Turpen, Madison Lehmann and Finnley Turpen.
