Darrell Mitchell, age 64, of Palestine, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, the 13th day of September 2021. He was born the oldest of three children to parents Haskell Mitchell and Billie Jo Davis Mitchell, in Palestine, Texas, on the 8th day of November 1956.
He attended Westwood High School, where he played football and graduated in 1975. Devoting his life to his family, he always made sure they were loved and cared for. He loved his wife, and the life they created together raising their three sons. Darrell understood the value of hard work and discipline. He began working for Palestine Contractors at the age of sixteen and enjoyed a long career in the oilfield.
Mr. Mitchell leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Tammy; sons, Cody Mitchell, Eric Mitchell, and Clay Mitchell and wife Emily; sisters, Michele Mitchell-Mettlen of Indiana, and Melissa Crutcher and husband David of Palestine; mother-in-law, Dorothy Ross of Palestine. He is also survived by his grandson, Blake Anthony Mitchell, whom he adored. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends also mourn his passing. He is preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Billie Mitchell.
