Darrell Edward Whitesel, 87, went to the Lord peacefully on December 9, 2018 at Countryside Manor Healthcare Center in Anderson.
Darrell was born August 9, 1931 at his grandparent’s home on 3rd Street in Anderson. He married Mary Lois Vaughn on July 28, 1951 at South Meridian Church of God in Anderson. He was then drafted into the Marines and served 2 years during the Korean War.
He established the well known Whitesel’s Donuts Shoppe at 1411 West 53rd Street in Anderson. He sold this business and retired in 1981. He then enjoyed fixing antique clocks, gardening, building furniture, his tractor, as well as many hours loving his grand and great-grandchildren.
Darrell was preceded in death by his brother, Berming Gale; his parents, Virgil and Elizabeth; sister Arlene Biby; and his beloved grandson, Joshua.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lois; children, Pam (Robert) Lee, Darrell Dean (Linda), Timothy (Frankie), Reed (Carol), Melinda (Misty) Whitesel, Darlene (John) Lambert; sisters, Mary Belle Harless, and June Brummett-Williams. He has 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
