Darrell David Roberts, age 64, “Mikinaak Inii” which means “Turtle Man” of Minneapolis, Minnesota and the Bear Clan began his journey to the spirit world on April 9, 2017 from North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN from complications of the heart.  He was born in Red Lake, MN on January 8, 1953 to Virginia Roberts.

Darrell was born in Red Lake, MN and was raised in Minneapolis by his aunt and uncle Frances and Kenny Graves.  He resided in Minneapolis most of his life but always loved coming back to the reservation to visit.  Darrell liked playing cards and was an avid walker.  He liked fishing in his spare time.  Darrell followed the Red Lake Warriors Basketball team and was a dedicated fan.  He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings.  Darrell was an easy going man who liked laughing with family and really enjoyed their company.  He especially loved being with his nieces and nephews.  Darrell was known to his family as “Indian Elvis” since he looked like him.

Darrell will join, in the spirit world, his birth mother; Virginia Roberts, brothers; Edward, Charles “Porky” and Richard Roberts, aunt and uncle; Frances and Kenny Graves, Sr., grandparents; Charles Roberts and Jennie Kelly-Roberts, cousin; Douglas Roberts, Jr. and other relatives.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters; Janet Graves, Wanda Patrick, Rita George, Susie Graves, Kenny John and Mary Graves, nieces; Shauna, Beverly and Nicole Roberts, nephews, Randy and Muckwa Roberts, uncles; Norman and Douglas Roberts, Sr., aunt; Alberta Zamora, and many friends.
