Darrell B. Holzhauer, 85, of Centralia passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Centralia Manor with his loving family by his side. Darrell was born November 16, 1931 in Centralia, the son of Harry Holzhauer and Marguerite (Mercer) Holzhauer.

He married Doris Miller on March 28, 1953 in Mt. Vernon, IL and she survives him in Centralia. In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by: two daughters: Marsha D. Holzhauer of Centralia and Darilyn J. Holzhauer of Swansea, IL; one sister: Sue Miller of Centralia; two grandchildren: Darrell “Darby” Bronson of Centralia and Michael E. Bronson (Emily George) of Centralia. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents: Harry and Marguerite Holzhauer and one brother: Jack Holzhauer. Darrell graduated from the Centralia Township High School in 1948. He worked from 1948-1993 for the Illinois Central Railroad and retired after 45 years as a Locomotive Engineer. He was a member of the American Legion Post 446 and a member of the United Transportation Union. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
