Darrel Lewis Smith, 80, of Bloomington passed away October 27, 2018, after singing “It Is Well With My Soul” at his home congregation, Evangelical Community Church.
Born, August 10, 1938, in Yuba City, CA; he was the son of Elmer and Winona (Thompson) Smith. Darrel played accordion and French horn, and he sang in church choirs for more than 60 years. His favorite song was “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.” He received his teaching license from Westmont College, and then he taught for Wheatland School District, including Beale Air Force Base, for over 30 years.
Darrel is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane Pea Smith; their children, Janell, Eric, and Darrin Smith; their niece, Amy Grourke Norris; and their grandchildren.
