Darrel E. Allen, 71, of Galesburg, died at 9:56 a.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018 in the Emergency Room at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.Darrel was born November 2, 1946 in Monmouth, the son of Billy Dean and Kathleen Harriett (Laughlin) Allen. He married Mary JoAnn Shepard of Galesburg on April 17, 1978 in East Galesburg. She survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Ronald (Christel) Johnson of Parkville, MO, Cody (Jessica Scalf) Allen of Canton and Vincent (Beth) Allen of Galesburg; one daughter, Yvonne Bell of Galesburg; as well as 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Along with his parents, Darrel was preceded in death by one son, Michael Johnson; one brother; one sister; and two grandchildren. Darrel worked as a repairman at Bradshaw’s TV and Appliance in Abingdon for many years. Darrel’s life was devoted to God and to his family.
He was an active member at Harmony Baptist Church and had been the church bus driver at Prairieland Baptist Church for over 20 years. While living in Parkville, MO, Darrel was active at Solid Rock Baptist Church. He was also very active in nursing home and prison ministry.
