Darlene Marie (Ankiewicz) Volk, 75, of Peru, passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 19, 2020 in Peru. Mrs. Volk was born May 24, 1944 in LaSalle to John and Nellie (Mini) Ankiewicz. She was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru Township High School. She married Robert Lee Volk on May 28, 1966 at St. Joseph’s Church, Peru.Mrs. Volk was first and foremost a homemaker and mother. In addition to raising her children, she was also co-owner and operator of 12th St. Station in Peru for eight years, and continued to manage the property for many years. She was also a longtime employee of St. Joseph’s Church in Peru as an office secretary.
As a member of the church, she belonged to the Mother’s Club and the Altar and Rosary Society and volunteered as a catechist. She enjoyed playing cards, playing golf and spending time at their cottage at Fish-N-Fun.Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Robert; four children, Chris Volk and Andrea Znaniecki both of Peru, Tim (Kathy) Volk of Cleves, OH and Dianna (Andy) Schroeder of Freeport; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary (Larry) Hiester of Tonica; four sisters-in-law, Joanne Fleming of Utica, Lois (Pete) Bistolfo of Plainfield, Kathy Ankiewicz of Peru and Bonnie Ankiewicz of Las Vegas, NV; four brothers-in-law, Don (Sandy) Volk of Anderson, IN, Nick (Judy) Volk of Washington, IL, Tom Volk of Chicago and Ed (Karen) Volk of Loveland, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Robert “Bob” Ankiewicz and Ron Ankiewicz.
