Darlene M. (Werdung) McAllister, 101, of Ottawa, formerly of Peru, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.
Mrs. McAllister was born September 13, 1918 in Peru to Mathias and Elvena (Naumann) Werdung. She was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School. She married Charles McAllister on May 17, 1937 in Ottawa.
Mrs. McAllister was raised in the First Congregational Church in Peru. She was a homemaker and an active volunteer throughout her life. She especially enjoyed her bridge and women’s clubs.
Survivors include five children, Karen Kohn and Lauren Thorsen of Elgin, Michael (Elizabeth) McAllister of Little Rock, AR and Claire (James) Orr and Maura McAllister of Ottawa; six grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; one grandson, Edward Kohn; her parents and her brother, Romayne Werdung.
