Darlene “Darby” Ann Martin, a longtime resident of Mason, passed away at Sparrow Hospital on Sunday, February 25, 2024 after a sudden brain aneurysm.Darby was born on August 16, 1950 in Bath, Michigan, one of six children born to Samuel and Josephine “Elaine” Palmatier. She graduated from Bath High School in 1968 and enjoyed an over twenty year career with the State of Michigan.Darby married Lawrence “Larry” Martin in 1969 and together raised their family in Mason. She was devoted to her faith and attended Mason First Presbyterian Church for many years. Darby found joy in life’s simplest pleasures and loved crafting, painting, and trips to the cottage. She enjoyed bargain shopping, attending and hosting yard sales and hunting for unique treasures, but her biggest treasure was her family. Darby was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an adoring grandmother. The time she spent playing with her grandchildren was among her most cherished moments. She had a heart for helping others, and was a beacon of compassion and thoughtfulness, always placing the needs of others before her own.She is survived by her husband of fifty five years, Larry Martin; daughters, Susie (Dale) Green and Becky (Joe) Mouch; grandchildren, McKenzie Seely, Hannah Seely, Alyson Green, Christian Mouch, Ethan Mouch, Elaina Mouch; great-granddaughter, Elaina Bartlett; siblings, Tim (Paula) Palmatier, Gary (Tammy) Palmatier, Diane (Terry) Christmas, Debby (Mike) Chesney, Sharon (the late Larry) Fuller, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Martin.
