Born in New Orleans on September 21, 1962, Daphne was the fourth child born to the union of Lodell Shepard Clark and Wadies Lee Clark. She departed this life on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville, LA.

Daphne was educated in New Orleans public schools graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in 1980. She was a sports enthusiast and participant. During her high school years, Daphne played softball and basketball. She also was a member of “Prout’s Pride,” a girls’ track team. Daphne was outgoing and liked by many. She was elected senior maid of the 1980 Homecoming Court at John F. Kennedy High School. After graduating high school, she enrolled in Delgado Community College of New Orleans and earned dual certification in Early Childhood Development and Care of the Physical/Mentally Impaired. Daphne had a special gift of compassion for the infirm and adored her “babies.”

Her mother and father’s illness and subsequent death changed the family dynamics.

We take comfort in knowing that she loved the Lord. Her favorite hymns were “Thank You Lord” and

“Any Way You Bless Me.”

We take comfort in her kindness, her warmth, and her love of her family and God. She was a special person who also loved and valued her friends. May we always remember the smile on her face.

Daphne leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter Mariah Lyn Jones, three sisters, Evelyn C. Charlot, Jean C. Kennedy, and Beverly Ann Clark, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
